With the founding of the Republic of Turkey, education became one of the areas Mustafa Kemal Atatürk prioritized and supported all kinds of investments for its development. In this context, his speech to Parliament in 1925, calling on individuals and private institutions to contribute to education, was the first step toward establishing the "Turkish Education Society" and the high-quality Turkish schools Atatürk longed for. The Turkish Education Society, now known as the Turkish Education Association, was founded on January 31, 1928, at the invitation of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and under the leadership of the cadres who founded the Republic.

The Turkish Education Society is a well-established civil society organization whose mission is to provide scholarships to successful but underprivileged students, to establish foreign language schools and dormitories both at home and abroad, to establish scientific platforms that will modernize Turkish educational standards, to raise public awareness of the problems and solutions of the education system, and to contribute to the development of Turkish education policy.

Why Does TED Open Schools?

The Turkish Education Association believes that education is the most important factor in a country's economic and social development and opens schools to:

  • Contribute to Turkey's development through education,
  • Raise the educational level in the regions where its schools are located,
  • Provide education to successful children with limited financial means.
